Class & Club Spotlight - September 2024

Squash & Stretch
First among the twelve basic principles of animation, "squash and stretch" gives objects flexibility and weight when in motion. In Kay's Animation 11/12 course, students have been exploring this principle in the context of computer animation. Throughout the trimester, they will build on previous digital media skills to create 2-dimensional animations and motion graphics in Procreate and Adobe Animate.
A Great Debate
In late September, Mustafa's Modern World History class hosted the "debate of the (15th) century:" namely, 10th grade students debated the proposition that Zheng He was the greatest mariner of the period. From 1405 to 1433, Zheng He led seven voyages "through the South China Sea, Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea, Red Sea, and along the east coast of Africa."

Bright Colors & Creativity
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, our Latine / Hispanic Student Union (LHSU) is again working with The Pulsera Project, a fair trade nonprofit that connects Central American artists with US students through the sale of colorful handwoven bracelets, or "pulseras." The LHSU team will be selling pulseras and bolsitas (purses) in the Atrium for the next two weeks, so be sure to stop by.
