Combustion Engine Grants 2024-25

Each summer, Burke's Professional Development Committee awards Combustion Engine Grants, which enable faculty to enrich teaching and curricula in innovative ways during the summer months. Before the recent winter break, the Summer 2024 grant recipients presented on their work.
  • Elizabeth S., Nathan B. (HS English): development of portfolio-based writing instruction, which her 9th grade Genres class is now piloting
  • Jason R. (Computer Science): development of a Robotics course, focused on autonomous driving through the Duckietown program from MIT
  • Jenn C. (MS/HS Math): library of structured lessons for middle school homerooms, aimed at building cohesion across grades and advisories
  • Kay C. (Visual Arts): flexible digital media track, aligned to National Core Arts Standards, including Animation and 3D Modeling
