Music, Math & Mavens

Never let it be said that Burke celebrates Pi Day in anything short of fine fashion. In this case, we combined three celebrations into one extensive assembly on March 14 (aka: 3.14).
Burning Strings, an ensemble composed of students and faculty who play string instruments (from cello to viola), gathered for their annual performance of Irish music, complemented by breaking from 7th grade dancer Elijah C. '30. Next, student leaders of FemCo presented on Women's History Month, then segued into a highly-contested game show about the women who teach and work at Burke.

To close out, Math Club leaders discussed the history of our favorite mathematical constant and hosted the annual "Recitation of Pi" contest. This year's showdown required entrants to alternate digits with a partner, necessitating strong Pi knowledge among multiple students to win. In the end, Leyu F. '28 and Sylvie M. '28 took the top spot on behalf of 9th grade.
